Two Dozen Red Roses

Twenty-four red roses in a full spiral — twice the bouquet, and it shows across a room. We build this one wide rather than tall so it reads properly in a photograph, which is usually what happens to it within a minute of arriving.

Trim two centimetres from each stem at a slant before the first water change. Keep the vase out of direct sun and away from the fruit bowl — ripening fruit gives off ethylene, which ages cut roses fast. Change the water every second day and these will hold for six to eight days in Lahore's summer.
